Reindeer Roundup Online Shop Hop

From November 15th to December 15th 2009, we participated in an "online shop hop" called "Reindeer Roundup." A reindeer image was hidden in each participating store website. Shop hoppers that found the hidden reindeer in each participating store became eligible to win prizes! Anyone could participate... all they needed was access to the internet and a valid email address. And participation was free! Did you find the reindeer?

The Rubber Cafe came to Poway Saturday November 28th 2009 with some fun and exciting last minute Christmas Cards! We had a FREE Make-n-Take using Copic Markers and the Scor-pal to create a super cute project that can be used as a quick gift for any occasion. We hope you were able to come, play and maybe laugh a little!

So Cal Shop Hop 2009 Bonus Week

Discounts and deals and sales galore! That's what the So Cal Bonus Week was for! Shop hoppers brought their lanyards, passports, and pins. Visiting participating stores (like ours, Stamping Details!) during the Bonus Week they received one of the following discounts: with a So Cal Shop Hop Passport from 2007, 2008 or 2009 they received a 10% discount from any participating store. Wearing their 2009 So Cal Shop Hop Lanyard and Lapel Pin they received a 15% discount at participating stores. Wearing their 2009 So Cal Shop Hop Lanyard and Lapel Pin and the Store Pin from a participating store they received a 20% discount at that store.

We got in a special shipment from B Line Designs – with many of the new designs from their latest catalog: Pick Me Up. Lynell Harlow Stenciling and Embossing Classes!

Lynell Harlow, the owner of Dreamweaver Stencils, known world-wide for her innovative exploration of the centuries-old arts of stenciling and embossing, visited us again to teach several advanced techniques! On Saturday October 3rd 2009 she taught Putting on the Glitz and Metallic Effects on Black Glossy Embossing Paste. And on Sunday October 4th she taught Crackle Paste and Rubout Technique. We hope you didn't miss this chance to meet and learn from one of the world's most knowledgeable and creative stencil artists!

Encore Classes October 29th 2009

Michael Strong had a special event here September 16th 2009 – he's debuted his newest set of rubber stamps here at Stamping Details! In his Cloisonné Cameos class students made five different cards using Michael's brand new set of unmounted rubber stamps which celebrate the four seasons. And for those who couldn't get into his sold out premiere, he taught two encore sessions on October 29th 2009.

Michael deMeng Workshops

Sept 4-6, 2009 (Labor Day Weekend)

Transformation artist Michael deMeng, known for his postmodern shrines came to San Diego/Poway again to lead three workshops Labor Day weekend. To make sure no bad mumbo jumbo came our way Michael helped students create a Chamsah reliquary using a variety of found objects and the process of assemblage in Eye/Hand Coordination on Friday September 4th 2009. Students transformed and modified a contemporary pop icon, the PEZ dispenser, into personalized totems in Michael's Pez Dispensing Totems workshop on Saturday. And on Sunday students used a variety of assemblage techniques to transform everyday toy vehicles into cars with character in Monster Mobiles.

Bonus Bucks Redemption Day Was Sunday August 30th 2009

On August 30th 2009 we had big crowds of loyal customers going through a huge pile of stuff on our classroom tables, picking out items priced in "Stamping Details Bonus Bucks." Over the summer, shoppers collected one Stamping Details Bonus Buck for every five dollars they spent here. And on August 30th they redeemed their Bonus Bucks for a wide assortment of items including a silent auction.

So Cal Shop Hop 2009

So Cal took on the wild jungles of the papercrafting world for the third year in a row with the So Cal Shop Hop. So Cal rubber stamping and scrapbooking stores rallied together to help "Create the Adventure" with stampers, scrapbookers, and crafters! From August 7th-23rd 2009, shop hoppers tracked 37 stores as they hosted fierce make 'n takes and offer untamed discounts. What was this all about? Chris Cozen visited us again and we opened a second session of her Layer Upon Layer: Collage and Mixed Media Meet Fabric workshop. For those whoe couldn't get into her Saturday session, there was an added Friday session. Also that weekend she taught: Open Arylics: Mono Prints & Collographs, Clearly Amazing: Acrylic Painting Inside-Out, and Making Your Mark: Sgraffito Techniques.

Karen Thomas, Creative Director for Yasutomo and Company, finally made it to Stamping Details to teach three fun paper crafting classes. The author of many projects, including Mingei Crafts, and Mizuhiki Magic Knots, Karen taught Fun Folds, Containers and Surprises on Friday July 17th 2009. On Saturday students folded up four love inspired cards from Karen's new book in Fold Your Heart Out!, then created a chain link bracelet using Mizuhiki ribbon in Paper Chain Link Bracelet and Gift Box.

On July 11th 2009 students created an Elegant Butterfly Board Book with just the right touch of gold, bling and ribbon to make it a gift they would love to give. The $24 donation included all class materials, which were donated by Brenda so that 100% of the proceeds went to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation to help with the search to find a cure for breast cancer.

5th Anniversary Celebration!

Thanks for joining us for our 5th Anniversary celebration from Friday April 3rd through Monday April 6th 2009! There were munchies and everyone got a free gift! And there was a drawing every hour. And, we had more for you! FREE demos and Make'n Takes! The Craft Diva herself, Danielle Forsgren, and Rayme Sciaroni, were here Saturday to sign copies of her book, Designing With The Divas, and do Make'n Takes. And Kevin Nakagawa was also here on Saturday doing FREE Stampscapes demonstrations and Make'n Takes. Plus Flower Soft, Cuttlebug, alcohol ink, stenciling, tool, and spray wash FREE demos throughout the celebration. We hope everybody had as much fun as we did!

And Workshops March 6th-8th 2009

Chris Cozen's second book, Transfers and Altered Images, was hot off the press and Chris was here Friday March 6th 2009 to sign copies! Many came and joined her for the event, and also took up to five workshops with her that weekend. The workshops started Friday evening with Nitty-Gritty Color Mixing and Applications. On Saturday there was Layer Upon Layer: Acrylics in Collage and Mixed Media Applications and Revisiting Canvases: Making the Most of What Isn't Working. And on Sunday there was Five Fast, Furious and Fabulous Mixed Media Backgrounds and Re-Inventing Images: New Approaches to Image Transfers.

Leslie Altman visited us again and she taught four new and exciting workshops! This year's lineup of workshops included: Paperclay... Wet-Media Coloring Techniques, A Kindred Spirit (Dimensional Mixed-Media Assemblage), Antique Florals and Foliage (Wet-Media Coloring Techniques), and Go With The Flow III... Fe Fi "Faux" Fusion!.

Leila Classes Special!

Leila Steineckert had a class special February 7th 2009 - two classes for only $30! Students made five artful and funky cards in Love Rules and another five cards with die cuts and fanciful arches in Thankful Hearts - that's right, ten different cards for only $30! Wow! Leila's special was announced through an email from us - last minute specials are one more reason to be on our email list and make sure our address isn't blocked by your spam filter!


Donna Downey At Stamping Details!

Mixed media, painting, and scrapbooking artist Donna Downey came to Stamping Details to teach four workshops, including two brand new ones: Swatches, where students learned the step-by-step process of how to create Donna's signature Swatch art pieces, and Paint. Watercolor. Doodle. where students explored new techniques for using watercolor crayons, layering and collage for acrylic album pages. The fun started Thursday January 22nd 2009 incorporating cardboard, stamping, acrylic and transparencies in a mixed-media fabric and paper hybrid album in her Bloom workshop. In Unscripted students constructed, personlized, distressd and BIND-it ALL-ed to create a multi inclusion style 6 x 12 album.


[A Cupcake Kind of Day]

Linda Bradbury In Poway Again!

Minnesota artist Linda Bradbury visited us again to teach another four fun and inspiring classes featuring her new Classic Expressions designs! She started off on Friday January 16th 2009 with A Cupcake Kind of Day using a wonderful Leigh Hannan acrylic set from Impression Obsession, and students made four cards and a beautiful presentation holder in All Occasion Gift Set. On Saturday or Sunday students tried their hand at Fabulous Folds! with unique and custom designed folds exclusive to Classic Expressions. Then using realistic images of luscious strawberries and deep purple blueberries stampers created three great projects in Berry Delight!


[Expressive Mosaics]

Laurie Mika Workshop (Again! Again!)

Students joined artist Laurie Mika for a day of Expressive Mosaics in a one-day intensive workshop where they created mixed media mosaic "Icons" using polymer clay tiles. Laurie employs her own unique handmade tiles along with mosaics, beads, and jewelry to create "contemporary icons" in privately commissioned works and pieces sold in many galleries including several local ones. Her works have been published numerous times including the premier issue of Expressions magazine. This was the third time Laurie taught this sold-out workshop here!
